Arrive in vibrant Madrid, where your journey begins. Settle into your room at the elegant Melia Serrano in the heart of the city. To kick off our trip, enjoy a celebratory welcome reception hosted by our Globe President & CEO Andrew Saunders and our Editor-in-Chief David Walmsley and his team of Globe journalist, and meet your fellow guests.  This evening enjoy dinner on your own at one of the nearby exquisite restaurants or make it an early night and dine at the hotel’s inhouse restaurant.

Begin your day with a Globe Insider Breakfast with Globe’s Editor-in-Chief, David Walmsley and Rita Trichur as they discuss the daily newspaper headlines, followed by a Globe Journalist Talk by Senior Business Writer & Columnist, Rita Trichur.This afternoon, explore Madrid on one of five excursions; a guided visit to the Prado to view world-renowned paintings; a walking tour of the historic centre focusing on the artistic, literary, and architectural heritage of the city; a tour of Spanish Civil War sites with a visit of the Reina Sofia Museum to view Picasso’s Guernica; a cycling tour of the Retiro Park area; or a foodie walk visiting the Plaza Mayor and the Mercado de San Miguel. Join Globe journalists for a private group dinner at a traditional Madrid restaurant this evening.

Once again, begin your day with a Globe Insider Breakfast with Globe’s Editor-in-Chief, David Walmsley and Rita Trichur as they discuss the daily newspaper headlines. Following the Talk, enjoy a bit of free time in Madrid before our departure from this fabulous city.  This afternoon, travel by high-speed train south to Seville, the capital of Andalucia for a three-night stay. Tonight, have dinner on your own at our hotel or in the the fabulous city of Seville.

Today is your opportunity to explore Seville and the area on one of five curated excursions; a walking tour of the historic city centre with visits to the awe-inspiring massive Gothic cathedral and the breathtaking Real Alcazar; a market tour and tapas cooking class; a guided visit to three spectacular 15thand 16th century palace-mansions; a visit to the Hacienda Guzman olive oil mill with a tasting and lunch; or an excursion to Córdoba to visit the exquisite Mezquita. This evening, we have dinner together at a restaurant known for its traditional Andalusian cuisine.

This afternoon we transfer by private coach across Andalucia’s agricultural heartland with rolling hills and vast stretches of olive groves, arriving to Granada in the late afternoon. Tonight, have dinner on your own at one of the many wonderful restaurants in Granada.

This morning we host our final Globe Insider Breakfast with Globe’s Editor-in-Chief, David Walmsley and Eric Reguly as they discuss the daily newspaper headlines, followed by a Globe Journalist Talk by European Bureau Chief, Eric Reguly. Later, set off on your excursion choosing from: a visit of the Alhambra complex and the Generalife Gardens, a walking tour of the historic centre and the Albaicin area, a wine tasting at the Bodega Senorio del Nevada, or an electric bike tour in the hills above the Alhambra. This evening, we gather for our farewell dinner.

Your The Globe and Mail Madrid and Andalucia trip comes to an end this morning. Bid ‘hasta luego’ to your fellow guests before transferring* to Malaga Airport for your departure home.  *A single transfer to the airport will be provided, departing the Granada hotel at 7:00AM.
